“L'origine della specie”
DocumentaryAn intimate chronicle of my encounters over several months with the former leader of Banda XXII Ottobre, one of Italy's first armed militant groups, based in Genoa.
→ Watch the filmAlberto Redighieri works across documentary storytelling, AI-generated video, institutional production, net art and code. From intimate personal films to commissioned work for universities and EU grant projects — and, lately, images made entirely with generative AI that could never otherwise be shot.

Imagining the opening of Salman Rushdie's novel as film — two men falling from an exploding plane, one becoming an angel, the other a devil. Made entirely with generative AI (Seedance 2.0).
→ Watch the filmA tragicomic short on the inner shadow and self-sabotage, built through a generative-AI pipeline. Directed and produced by Alberto Redighieri.

A documentary portrait of physicist Stefano Forte and his EU-funded research on the structure of matter.

One pixel per day. 365 days. The Palestinian flag rebuilt one pixel at a time on Instagram, with a physical installation concept for cultural venues.
→ Follow the projectA chess variant where pieces randomly reshuffle after every move. Play against Stockfish, running entirely in the browser. Built and deployed independently.
→ PlayA Bitcoin blockchain visualizer. Each block becomes a colored pixel by XOR-ing its SHA-256 hash bytes across three groups — R, G, B — producing vivid, deterministic colors. 952 pages, ~951,000 blocks from 2009 to today.

Ten years directing documentaries — intimate personal films, institutional portraits, EU-funded productions — taught me that the story comes first and the tool comes second. Lately that tool is often generative AI: not a shortcut, but a way to shoot images no camera ever could.
The same instinct pushes me into code — building the things I imagine rather than waiting for someone else to. A chess engine, a Bitcoin visualizer, an ongoing net-art project: different mediums, same question — what's the truest way to show this?
